The Cycle of Praxis for Community Development

Community leadership is heavily reliant on the collective wisdom, ingenuity, and active commitment of community members who choose to be accountable to one another. As many others have observed, community leadership is convening. But how we come together, what we work toward, and the way our journey together is framed are highly important.

The Cycle of Praxis is one way to order our coming together. Praxis is a fancy word for the ongoing action and reflection that are used to create wise practices. A cycle of praxis is meant to provoke images of seasons, repetition, and longevity when we consider our movement toward wise practice.

This particular approach, "Cycle of Praxis for Community Development", is based on an understanding of community challenges as complex and in need of sustainable solutions. The approach encourages creativity, using diverse tools and methods for learning and response, increasing self-awareness, and deepening respect for all involved in or affected by our work.

I invite you to download this free PDF introducing the "Cycle of Praxis for Community Development" as a tool for your own community leadership and engagement.
